Formerly known as the 49ers PREP In-School Program, Flag In Schools is a free, three-step initiative bringing non-contact flag football to youth ages 6–14. Through an eight-lesson curriculum, students participate in drills, movement activities, and games while developing teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. The program is designed for elementary and middle school physical education classes.

49ers Flag hosted three dedicated girls flag football skills camps throughout the Bay Area this year. The camps gave young athletes an opportunity to develop their football skills, build confidence, and connect with other girls who share their passion for the game. In 2025, the program engaged 380 participants, an 8% increase from the previous year.

49ers PREP hosted more than 500 youth at Tackle Skills Camps presented by Taube Philanthropies and Girl Flag Camps presented by Gatorade in Salinas, Santa Clara, and San Francisco. Athletes trained alongside 49ers alumni and current players while building football fundamentals, confidence, and leadership skills they could carry both on and off the field.

49ers Flag reimagined its free community flag leagues as 49ers Flag Community Combines, creating new opportunities for youth across the region to experience the game. The free, noncompetitive model provides equipment and resources for coaches while using flag football as a way to build skills, confidence, teamwork, and positive habits on and off the field.

The 49ers Foundation hosted its annual Mentorship Academy, welcoming more than 70 high school tackle and flag football players from 15 local schools for a day of leadership, learning, and mentorship with the 49ers rookie class. Students participated in sessions on leadership, coaching, media relations, and personal branding, gaining tools to help them succeed on and off the field.

In its 15th year, 49ers PREP hosted the annual T.H.I.N.K. Gold Conference, bringing together more than 50 high school women student-athletes for an inspiring day focused on careers and pathways in sports. The event connected students with professionals and new possibilities while encouraging them to think boldly about their futures, both in sports and beyond.
